I have fixed a few of these....The battery needs urgent replacement and those switches are hard to fix plus many other connectors go bad inside....Sounds ok but the lack of parameter control is a killer.
Don't pay that much..

As far as inexpensive analogue poly synths go the Roland JX and Alpha Juno series is where it's at. The biggest drawback to me with the Poly-61 is the incredibly small resolution on parameters. Ehh, not fully analogue but the KORG DW8000 is a good inexpensive vintage unit.

I have a broken one I found on the street you can have for the shipping and payment processing costs,
thought I could fix it up pretty easy, was definitely wrong, I've fixed a lot of things but this board is just a pain to work on, the battery acid leak problem combined with the little plastic clips on the keyboard pcb make this a giant hassle,
I can get sounds out of it and think it sounds cool,
if you get a good one you could use it for parts, the joystick is broken missing the left right mechanical parts
also make sure all the keys work, test all parameters and shake the thing up to make sure there aren't loose battery acid bits flying around inside that will short something out once they hit the right spot, probably just after you pay for it and get it home.

Re: Korg Poly 61 for $300 too much?
The Poly 61 was my first "real" synth, so I've got a soft spot for it. You'll never get the guy down to $125, as one poster suggested. In the post-eBay age, no one is giving away synths for that price anymore. Even a non-working Poly 61 in halfway decent shape will sell for $200 on eBay. At least the one you're considering is mostly functional.
If you buy this synth, you should plan on spending a couple of hundred bucks to get get it fully inspected, get the battery changed, the key contacts cleaned, and to possibly replace other faulty components. Once you're done, though, you'll have a very nice, working vintage synth.
Just make sure to figure repair costs into your buying equation.

So did you ever buy it?
It is a cool synth. If you don't have a Kenton ProSolo to sync it up you can always sample it.
