SQ8L with a midi controller help, in Reaper

Post by Tiger Jackson » Mon Mar 25, 2019 5:45 am

So I bought a midi keyboard, an alesis vi49. Figured I'd try hooking it together with SQ8L in reaper and assigning its knobs. I know the process in reaper, touch a vst's parameter, then go to the vst fx menu, param button, then "learn." But it doesn't ever detect that I moved any of sq8l's parameters so I can't assign. Any idea here?

I don't use SQ8L, so all I can offer is this:

MIDI learn in a DAW only works on parameters that the plugin makes available to the DAW. The same goes for automation. I'm not familiar with Reaper, but many DAWs (Live and Logic for example) make it possible to view the available parameters of each plugin.

A plugin may have it's own MIDI Learn that works independent of the DAW.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.
