That's hot stuff :)

I have a bootleg from 1979 where he had his dual CS-80 setup (one above the other on a specialmade rack). One track in particular is amazing, where it's ONLY CS-80 for 10 minutes. It starts out with some improv, then glides into a beautiful melody that don't exist on any of his albums (believe me, I've searched).
He's a master at operating that synth on the fly.

The entire concert is great, he alternates between piano and synths, sometimes mix them together (virtuoso piano playing with some synth bass sequences etc).
I don't have a tracklist because it's mostly improvised, with some parts of his great hits in the middle of long pieces.
It starts out as a pure piano concerto, the a synth sequence creeps in, then more and more synths. He has a philosophy of playing as much as possible himself when he plays live, so his hits are stripped down so he can perform most of them alone.

I've uploaded the particular track for you. A gorgeous melody comes in after a few minutes. That synth has an incredible weighty sound.

I have part 1 to 7. The entire concert.
But they're BIIIG MP3 files. (12-15MB each)

BIIIG!
I'd consider maybe 100 Mb files as big but 15 Mb is nothing! Unless you are of course still on 56k internet?
But anyway, thank you for sharing that one, I can't stop listening to that cute little bell melody!
It gets stuck in your head!

No I have 4Mbit internet. It's just that I have nowhere to upload such a big zip file to. You'd be better off searching a fileshare network for "Vangelis london 1979"

And yes, that melody is completely haunting. I searched for hours through all the old Vangelis records to find it, it is nowhere to be heard. So I guess he improvised it or only played it live. I love the way he fades in and out the wild ringmod, like a big border between the chaotic start and the soft melody.

The tremolo effect in the beginning is also ringmod, it's what happens when you ringmod two oscillators that are close to eachother in pitch.

You could zip the files and up them to this site: www.rapidshare.com

Once finished you get the addresses of these ups and then you post them where ever!
The second set of links that you get is to delete the files that you upped!

Simple!

Maybe it's just the way he played it, but I actually prefer the sound of the CS80V in the demo versus the real CS80. What great times we live in when a piece of software can sound every bit as convincing as the real thing. Thanks for posting that Vangelis soundclip link - it sounds great !! (yeah I'm not talking about the sound quality, but about the stuff he's playing on his CS-80's)

Cheers man, I love this concert!

And this is what I miss him doing, just pure unashamed experimentation!

I owe you one!
