iPhone Music Apps

Post by crystalmsc » Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:27 am

I view something like iPhone would be an ideal pocket groovebox with it's touch screen (durable), lite and thin size, clean interface and some power and quality beneath. The Music apps are also very interesting, currently keep an eye for these:
iZotope iDrum, the interesting iDrum is now also in iPhone
NoiseIO, a synthesizer with unique interface
Intua BeatMaker, some said as a Timbaland favorite :) with a bit crusher
MPC500 Emulator
IR-909, a TR-909 emulation
Moocow band and pianist
MixMiester Scratch
Anyone with real hand experience is very welcome to share their experience, either with the iPhone, the new 3G or the above apps, specially regarding OS that usually a hassle with the upgrade version (backward incompatibility).

perfect use of the search function - i almost started a new thread in OT..

i have an iPod Touch, not the iPhone. I recently purchased BeatMaker and the IR909.
i have yet to delve very deep into BeatMaker, but it seems like a great app. the 909 is a great time waster and the fact that it also has 808, 707, 606 and a couple of more sound sets is fantastic. Not bad for $4.99!!
as someone in one of the reviews stated, a TB303 emulator app would be awesome!

there's gotta be a few iPhone/Touch users on VSE - discuss..

The iTM series of apps caught my eye while browsing through the App Store. Very cool stuff, especially for those of us using Ableton Live. I've been wanting a simple piece of hardware to use for launching clips in Live and Matrix looks to be just the ticket. I don't presently own an iPhone but have been contemplating it for a while so this appears to be a good time to take the plunge.

oh yeah, that also belong in this thread, I'm seriously considering that when not getting the new 3G. Mind to tell more about how do you like it?

my only complaint about the Touch is that if i take it anywhere, i have to find a wifi hotspot to use any of the internet features. Not living in a big city, hotspots are NOT abundant. With the iPhone this wouldn't be an issue because (duh) it's a cell phone and therefore you have coverage where ever you go.

i did have a few issues when i installed the new software (2.0) it would occasionally freeze up and not respond to my touch (oh, the irony) and it was really pissing me off. Then they offered a new version earlier this month that has seemed to fix that problem for me.

one of the other free apps that i love is AOL radio. You can stream a buttload of online radio stations, my favorite being KROQ2 - the rock of the 80's!!

Tap Tap Revenge is also fun - and free!!

i might have to take a lot at the developer kit & see if turning my 3g into a wifi Kaoss Pad is a possibility, that would be the bee's knees.

that's exactly what I'm worry about. pls post the update with the OS. thank you for the free apps recommendation, I'll keep that in mind.

http://lux.vu/blog/oscemote/ + OSCulator and you can do pretty much anything.

Also check out iTM XYpad, which sends midi directly without the need for the translating program.
