-yet-

But ok, since the epic shipment of fail has arrived already: the point was that there is no best software. Ask people around here what software they use and you'll end up with:
- Cubase
- Logic
- Sonar
- Protools
- Ableton
- Fruityloops
- Trackers
etc.

In random order and in random quantities. In the end: you don't know which one is the best, you only know which options there are. There *is* no best software, 'cause it'd be a debate similar to analoge/digital, pc/mac, hw-sampler/sw-sampler etc. The only thing you can do is try 'em all and continue with the one you like most.

Same thing. Ease of use is subjective. A violin is not very easy to play for most people, yet Vanessa Mae can literary dream all her finger's positions and all the relevant strokes.

(ok, not a very smart example I guess :D)

All people who're using some tool of that list I gave all claim their tool is the easiest of all.

Reaper is so cheap it's free. Well you can buy a license for it and probably should support if you use it professionally.

With internet, everything can be had. Legal and otherwise. Morally I'd say: test 'm all and eventually buy what you *really* use (unless you're happy with freeware stuff). Somehow I always have high hopes that a proper license gives me the right to nag for features @ the programmers.. :P

Keep in mind tho that, regardless of what manufacturers claim, there's little point in having *all* software imaginable. If you have one or two *vast* and *quality* softsynths, then chances are that you'll be able to live with 'm for years to come. But that's a discussion on its own, I obviously am not someone you can wake up for yet another remake of yet another old famed (and usually vastly overrated) synth.
