Best FREE Modular Soft Synth

Post by 12345 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 12:07 am

Hey everyone,

Couldn't quite find this in a search, but are there any cool free modular soft-synths in AU. Perhaps ones with a nice graphic layout of modules?

Or, just a good vintage sounding poly soft-synth thats AU and free?

It's going to be hard to find one of those, but check out kvraudio.com and search their host database.
Being that you can do so many things with it [the synthesizer]... you can make sounds bigger than life.

I think the free part makes it tricky.

You could try out the nord modular g2 demo. It's got quite a few limitations but it's free and cool.

Buzztracker has a modular design where synths, filters and effects can be patched together.
It's free and pretty awesome, I'd say.

And you need it in AU rather than VST?

Good luck, I doubt that any free soft modulars are offered in AU...there are none listed at KVR.

Green Oak's Crystal is worth a look, it's not really modular but it's deep, free and available in AU.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

There are the soft synths of KXfree77 : http://kx77free.free.fr/English-page.html
So, there is the Kx-Synth-X16 that is mono with matrix of EMS VCS3 and the same but polyphonic KX-Synth-X16V2 and few days the KX-Synth-X16 V2.5. There are in the middle page. It's free and very great virtual synth. Try...
Origin Arturia, Yamaha SY 99 & EX5R, Evolver, G2 Engine, Stratocaster Roland midi, AudioSculpt & Open Music of IRCAM, Moog Modular V2, Prophet VS, EMS Avs, Tassman 4, Arturia Brass, Max Msp 5, Fireface 800. http://magelectrique.blogspot.com/
