Android Tablet and Midi Controller?

Post by tayste_2000 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:04 am

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help.

Has anyone every used an Android Tablet such as the Apad to run softsynths? Also is it possible to plug a midi controller such as the Novation X-Station 61 in to control this?

Any advice or info would be great.

Thanks

From what I've read that's the same for the Ipad as well?

The obvious difference in price is the draw to Android but it seems the Ipad is the best supported for music apps at the moment and will most likely continue to be. Please correct me if I'm wrong I'd really rather not buy an Ipad :D

Android doesn't have a midi implementation yet. From what I've read there might not be one for a while. the iOS 4.2 will have a midi back end.

I have a Droid X and the music creation software is basically non-existent. There's one wireless midi control app that's cool (youtube: fingerplay). Unfortunately the app seems like an experiment and doesn't appear to be getting much attention. Any other musical stuff on droid is just cobbled together and seems pretty cheap. I'll be honest, the droid platform simply isn't ready for serious music creation tools on any level, or if it is no one is doing much with it.

In the next few years that will change. There's a lot to love about my Droid but music creation tools is not one of them unfortunately...
