Dear Musician,
On June 21st, you will be able to download the Minimoog V Original for free.
The Minimoog V Original is a commemorative edition of the Minimoog V which includes all the sounds and features from the latest Minimoog-V update, but without the additional functionality accessible behind the top panel, just like the original Minimoog.
We are celebrating a partnership with Moog Music that gave birth to the Moog Modular V and Minimoog V. This partnership, initiated by Bob Moog himself, is coming to an end and the Moog Modular V and Minimoog V soft synths will soon be remerging as the updated and renamed Modular V and Mini V. We saw this as an opportunity to give musicians a gift that will symbolize this historical collaboration.
June 21st is World Music Day, a day everyone should play and share music.
So mark the date in your calendar - Arturia is giving away a great product on June 21st.

I wonder if this 'end of partnership' means Moog will be getting into VSTs of their own synths. Something went on behind the scenes.

I received the e-mail too. Will an Arturia dongle be required? Because I sold my copy of Prophet V and my dongle a few weeks ago!

Do you have to be registered to get it? I would love to have the MinimoogV even if it doesn't sound anything like the original.
btw, the 21st is when a new Daft Punk release is *rumored* to come out. Just sayin'

I doubt that it would require a dongle if it's a free product, but I suppose it's possible. I would almost think (speculation at this point) that all you'd need is an account on the Arturia website to download.gcoudert wrote:I received the e-mail too. Will an Arturia dongle be required? Software key for Arturia these days, folks. Grab this - you'll dig it for what it is.

WEll....Isn't THAT special? Probably nothing... just Moog announcing that they are discontinuing hardware production...nothing to worry about. Not like they ever made a good synth anyway....silikon wrote:gcoudert wrote:

The download requires online activation. And a 48 hour wait for the serial/link ect...
Oh well, it's free so I can't complain.

Arturia requires a dongle to use their demos even, so yeah. But you can use a digital version of the syncrosoft dongle aswell. Don't need the physical usb thingie anymore.
Can't really complain about that, the dongle system has been so successful that none of the cracking groups bothered to crack the updates after 1.1. They gave up on Cubase too after 3.xx. It was simply too much hassle to crack each new version and remake the dongle emulation, so the biggest audio software crack group, H2O, released a statement that they would stay away from Steinberg and Arturia products from then on.
Noone else has bothered to try since. I know, coz I used to hawk cracked VSTi's like there was no tomorrow, even though I never used any of them.

No dongle needed on this, just a somewhat frustrating time trying to get Arturia's website to handle all the traffic so you can get to your download. I got mine earlier, sounds nice. I probably won't use it on anything but it's nice to have for writing sessions when I don't want to fire up and patch the modular.

Re: Arturia to give away MinimoogV...
Minimoog V is getting old now, it was one of the first really good minimoog VSTi synths out there. There was an older one back in the late 90s. This is the one they invented all that True Analog Emulation software for, and basically cloned it and changed the waveforms and tweaked filters a bit on the following synths.
I adore their CS-80V, but it's a shame the interface is so bloody tiny you can hardly see what you're clicking on..

Re: Arturia to give away MinimoogV...
And will it sound just like the Moog modular V, ARP2600v and Minimoogv?
Re: Arturia to give away MinimoogV...
Hmm, it's difficult accessing their site. Do they have any alternative sites?
