Arturia: The New Generation

No it isn't a new Star Trek series.

Nice price drop and everything 64 bit now. I wonder if all the people who just bought Sparks and controllers the last 2 months are being auto-upgraded to the new bit versions. I couldn't get the cash together sadly, I wanted to snag a Spark and get almost all their software in one fell swoop.

The Spark listed for $99 is just the software. The controllered version is still more expensive. The 64-bit version (s) have been available for months from Arturia and are free upgrades for registered Arturia users.

I know the $99 Spark is just the software. They were running that Hybrid campaign tho and if you bought the spark you got 8 titles for free w/their Collection software

I'm glad to see this general trend in price reductions for software continuing. Commercial vendors have finally woken up to the reality of freeware and small developers who have never charge much for their products.

Hopefully DAW prices will start coming down as well now that Apple has priced Logic at only $199.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

What's the deal with Arturia taking the Moog name off their products?

I actually posted this on my site. I think Moog's eying up the plugin market soon. They've realized there's a ton of money with the iPad and iPhone stuff, so I think they'll be dipping in soon...

I'm supposed to review 3 of these plugins for Arturia on my site... just wanted to warn you guys, if you have an older Mac (mine is 2008) the newer plugins will likely crackle. For me, that means the Oberheim SEMV crackles quite a bit, unless i'm playing a mono sound. The other plugins I've tried (the prophet and jupiter 8) seem to be less feature laden and therefore don't give a beating as bad-- it's really surprising though, because I can run U-he diva on the lower modes and it crackles less than the Oberheim. I'll post the reviews here when I'm done.

I may finally pick up prophet V now. Does it still require a dongle?
