iPhone app Reactable

Post by griffin avid » Thu Nov 22, 2012 12:22 am

I know a mention of this is the other thread about Samplr, but I feel this warrants its own thread.
saw the table-top version and got excited. Saw the price tag and moved on.

Now, years later, there's an iPad/iPhone/android app that tons of fun.
Overall, it's a little limited with what you can do to mangle and manipulate the audio clips, BUT it's a blast to play and I find it inspiring- especially when you load up the library and play mix and match and see what happens.

There's a few holes that I would love to see filled with an update, but this is nice as it is.
At $9.99 it's more costly than some of the other noodlers.

Plus there's an active community where you can upload/download/share sessions/songs to remix etc....

I have played around with it a bit and although the user interface doesn't really grip me beyond my considering it a fun toy/novelty, it is a great app and definitely worth the price.

the other day I was reading about this newer app--- Audulus and it reminds me a bit of ReacTable, but seems more useful (albeit twice the price.) Not quite what I am personally looking for but insightful into the next step of music apps

It's been out for over a year. It's OK but Jasuto does a much better job of the same thing and more.

this isn't iPad related, but seeing as you like the idea of Reactable and not the price... Percussa recently announced Synthor, a free modular synthesizer for AudioCubes -- http://www.percussa.com/2012/11/12/samp ... udiocubes/

I can't help but see it as a clever way of getting me to buy another set..

I bought it for my Ipod Touch 4gen, but it was a bit of a letdown for me. The screen size also doesn't help. I think the Ipad version might be the one to go. If I have to stay on the Ipod/Iphone, then my vote will go to Jasuto: less colours, more fluency.

That's a wicked program too. It feels like I'm playing with circuit board switches- like something from Evangelion when they are monitoring the active links between the pilot and the Eva. Does look like something NI Reaktor fans would love.
Found a Jasuto demo. Wild stuff
