If you don't already have Tabletop now is the time. Running the mini three times in it...interesting.
(Audiobus people will be chiming in soon though.)

Arturia iMini for iPad just released

Post by Allthesound » Wed Feb 27, 2013 3:49 am

It's on the App Store for 9.95. I just downloaded it and while I have only used it a few minutes so far it's pretty damn cool and gives you that classic mini Moog sound for peanuts on the iPad. Well gotta go play will report back with some impressions after I have used it a bit.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Nice. I wonder if other Arturia synths will follow.

Yep - on their site it states "iMini requires at least an iPAD 2 and OS 6.0 or later." and in the iStore, "iMini is compatible with iPAD 2, iPAD 3 and IPAD Mini." I'm a little hesitant as it could be rather small.
Muhahahahahahahahaha!

It sounds just as good as the PC version did. And the controls work great on an iPad 4 screen, it detects my finger presses accurately enough that moving knobs or pushing buttons is never a problem. Even while I'm holding several keys and move several knobs at once it doesn't flinch.

Plus a few new features, like the Voyager-esque X-Y pad, there's two of those, where you can assign any parameter to the X or Y directions. Wish there was a reverb effect though, not just chorus and delay.
The pads and effects are on separate "screens" so they don't clutter up the main interface.

Attached the headphones to a channel on my 12-channel mixer, and it sounds just as loud and bassy as any other synth I have.

I hope they bring more synths over to this format, they're good sounding and way cheaper than the PC versions, while still looking the same.

Plus it seems more natural to play a touch keyboard and physically touch the dials rather than click and drag with a mouse. I've never been much into MIDI control and even more cables cluttering up the space around my computer.
This one cost $10, the PC version more than $100.
The Moog Modular V will probably be too cluttered on a 10" screen, though.

I also like that you can resize the keyboard.

I just purchased this as well, and having owned and original Mini and Voyager, I think it sounds pretty damn nice!! I have an iPad2 that has not been upgraded to OS6 and it works fine....

Picked it up and since I saw that it worked through Tabletop with the iMPC and went ahead and bought that too. I started trying to use iPolysix as drums/bass behind a rock band (like Ciccone Youth) but I need Linndrum style drums instead of synth-based drums so...maybe this will all work together.

I will be getting this but I am going to hang out and see if they put it on sale.

$10 is just too much to pay for a Mini Moog....

Turns out $10 is the introductory price.

It sounds great!
