Modular Synthesizer (Universal) for iOS

Post by Hugo76 » Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:32 pm

This one looks pretty cool, with included descriptions of how modular synthesis works. Seems a bit hard on the cpu, though.
"Modular is a powerful sound design tool which allows you to build your own custom synthesizer by connecting different sound modules together. By separating each synthesis process, modules can be connected in any way. You are no longer limited to fixed synthesizer design, you are now in full control of your sound. This is the beauty and power of modular synthesis. Whether you are a professional musician or a beginner who just loves sound, modular offers you an incredibly powerful synthesizer experience.

Modular looks, acts, and sounds like a hardware modular synthesizer to give you features that musicians want such as pulse width modulation, oscillator sync, 4 pole ladder filters, and 1v/oct filter tracking. Traditional modular systems are expensive and out of reach for the average artist. Modular is here to bridge that gap and allow everyone the opportunity to use these powerful synthesizers."

Seems neat, will try it out on my ipad 4. That should have sufficient CPU power. Looks very inspired by Modcan.

I kind of wish Arturia would release their Moog Modular V on iOS, since they already went there with the MinimoogV.
I wanna move patch cables around with my fingers, so much more intuitive than using a mouse.

It's annoying most of the presets all use modules that you have to buy from the in-app store to manipulate, so the modules are "locked".
But it's free to install so I guess they have to make money somehow.

Well, it turns out my iPad 2 has a very hard time running this app. Guess I'll wait with buying the extra modules until I've picked up a new iPad

My iPhone 3GS can hardly run it at all. Seems nice though.

Have no problems at all with my ipad 4. But it's kind of dull that you have to buy almost every module in the factory presets to be able to manipulate them.

On the other hand it isn't really that expensive just to get the "all modules" package.
