Looking for similar sounding sound using Logic

Post by le4thwest » Mon Apr 07, 2014 4:25 am

I'm trying to find a sound that sounds as close to the sound in the link below. I have Logic Pro X. I've tried every pre-loaded sound and can't find something that's as smooth/smooth transitioning. I also have Massive if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be best if I could get the sound from something already in Logic/Massive, but I'm open to having to download something.

Thanks so much.

It's just a square wave with a tiny bit of portamento and the filter down slightly. Pretty much any synth will handle that.
"Sure that's fine in practice, but what about in theory?"

I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one preset close to that sound in one of the Logic ES synths.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

After banning our bot friend, let's get back on topic:

Look for presets with "Moog" or "MG" in the name, also "square" and "lucky" (because it's not that far from the ELP Lucky Man sound). You should find something close very quickly.

Yeah any kind of "lucky man" preset should do you good. It's one of the more famous synth sounds, so it's prob available in most VST synths. It's from the song Lucky Man by Emerson Lake Palmer, and is a moog modular sound that is just two detuned squarewaves with portamento :)
