Line out issues

Post by dkhbrit » Sun Mar 01, 2015 2:43 am

Loving my Legacy M1 but I just can't get it to sound right. I've tried using the PC line out but it's very weak and buzzy. I've tried a USB interface and the sound seems garbled somewhat and is still weak. I am using a decentj enough Mackie mixer and cables are OK (I can take the same routing from the headphone jack of my Microkorg and it sounds great). Do I need a soundcard in my PC?

First things first.

-- Are you running it standalone or inside a DAW?

-- How does it sound if you listen to it over headphones connected to the PC?

-- Is this a Windows machine?
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Add to that:

which OS are you running?

which version of Korg Legacy is it (32/64)?

Are you running the 32 or 64 bit version (Korg)? Have you checked the audio tabs under preferences?

I'll check next time I'm up in my room. Pretty sure it's 64.

Based on what version it is what do I tweak? Like I said, all other sound sources out of this PC sound fine. It's very odd.

Define 'all other sound sources'... are you talking other VSTs? or things like playing PC games, videos and music?

Have a look at the sample/bit rate on the app, and on your sound card - there may be a mismatch; and, have a look at the latency settings - there may not be enough buffer.

Yep, you need to turn up the latency on your audio interface, that's what it is.

OK, all seems to be working now. I was using a Behringer UCA222 interface. I dug out my 1818VSL and tried that instead and it worked great once I'd updated the firmware.

Thanks for all your wisdom
