Does anyone have any suggestions for any other techs in the Philadelphia area aside from Danny's Amps and Cintioli's? The former was not good (see below), and the latter is ok, but not synth specific.

anybody near oviedo florida that could possibly look at my DX7?
I already spent all of my money on it, so a cheap (possibly free/i'll fix something for you if i can fix it, in return, done that kind of deal before), technician, yet effective, is preferred..
if not cheap, i'll need to talk it over with my father..

I am in the SF Bay Area and do repairs analog synths & drum machines.
I also have hard-to-find chips, keys, knobs, pots, and other vintage synth parts - http://www.synthparts.com
I have worked on analog synths for 20+ years and always try to help others troubleshoot when I can. I can usually be found on the AH mailing list or the Help forum on Synthwerx - http://www.synthwerx.com/forums/

Just got my P5 back from a full servicing and repair from Greg at Analog Synth Service (http://www.analogsynthservice.com/). He was very fast, fixed a couple of problems I wasn't even aware of, and installed a MIDI kit. All of this for a very, very reasonable price that was much lower than the quote I received from Wine Country. Highly Recommended

I can do analog synth repairs in the Nashville area. Email me at robert.hume at gmail.com.

Bross, I really like your music. What are you wasting your time fixing synths for? You should be pimping your music and getting it the attention it deserves!

This place is sort of expensive, but they do actually fix things (unlike deltronics), they guarantee their work and they usually have a ton of spare parts to rare things lying around. I've gone to them with a polysix that deltronics refused to repair and a jx3p that took a nasty fall.tmoney wrote:This is a great thread.

Vintage synths, fancy analog consoles, anything that's not digital.

This place will fix anything, but it will be very very expensive and will take a long time. Maybe it's just that they're in the midst of moving and they're backed up, but it took 6 weeks and cost $275 for them to fix my ms-20, doing the following:
tune
replace volume pot
modify output transformer to 120v from 220v.
Whine Country
is it just me, or is Wine Country WAAYYY to overpriced and WAAYYY to cocky? I called to speak to a tech about repairing my VS. The smug bugger on the phone said " No one can speak to techs, they won't speak to you. " and I say.... "well.... I'd like to ask a quick question, i am somewhat technical and need to see about a part" He then says... " All our parts are online, you'll have to figure out which part or parts you need and then call us to place the order" me... "How do I know what I'll need if I can't speak to your tech JUST TO VERIFY ONE QUESTION".
He then says changes the subject to me just sending the synth to them for repair... at an ungodly rate UPFRONT.
I mean, seriously.... W.T.F.? You may have worked with Dave Smith once upon a time, but that's no reason to put on airs. There's a small but good source of KIND, Good Hearted analog techs out there.
I propose a change of name to "Whine Country"

Just a follow up to this-I am currently using this guy to do some very minor work on my Cat (replacing a switch, general calibration), but it has been with him for about 2 months with 0 progress. the only reason I am leaving it with him is so I can get my $45 deposit's worth of fixing the one stupid switch. Will definitely not use again.
