Oh, I was going to keep that all to myself just to make you guys suffer, bwahahaha!

No, seriously, that's exactly what I was planning to do ;)

Heck yeah! \o/ That photo makes me proud to no end

I've currently hit a minor snag in building the cards: The memory chips I received from the supplier are ever so slightly bent, and I'm not sure they're supposed to be. If nothing else, they won't solder to the cards perfectly flat, and I'm a little worried that this may cause mechanical problems plugging/unplugging the cards. So before I build cards with wonky memory (though apparently only physically wonky; the two I've built pass all tests), I decided to ask the supplier if that's normal. The memory's the most expensive single part of the card after all.

That said, I have one more complete card shipping to Zaichornok for testing, and I have four more cards that are only missing the memory chips right now. Once I complete those, I'll contact some of you guys about testing.

Also, I'll have to look into reflow soldering and/or get a decent iron -- soldering five cards in parallel really strained my nerves to the limit.

It's amazing what you come across when ebay prices cause you to go looking. This is fantastic, and exactly the kind of thing I went looking for, so I'd be really interested in getting one of these too.

I have a JD800 and a VG8EX. I'll definitely have at least one card followed by another a bit later. Fantastic work!

I'll buy a card too ... have to spoil my JD800 in some way.

Excellent work and continued good luck with this project :-)

I'll buy one if you have any spare still.
I'm a VG-8EX owner.

You haven't missed out yet as the card is not even available yet (only a couple of test cards have been shipped out so far to a small number of testers).

I'm interested in buying at least a couple D-50 RAM cards once they're ready. Great project. Good luck! I'll keep my eye on this site. Any thoughts on your selling price?

It's been mentioned before it will be 60-ish euros. It might change if we do a little production run, but for the small experimental runs we did so far, that's what came out price-wise.

These cards are compatible replacements for Akai BR-16 and BR-32 cards as well, apparently:

Which would be cool, I could do with more space on my Akai MX-1000.

Seems like a fair price (at least, lower than those available from ebay). Good luck on your venture. Do you need any investment capital?

madtheory: Interesting! I think that might qualify you as another beta tester for the current run. As soon as dojoe gets a confirmation about those bent chips there will hopefully be more news.
