Rack ears for ivory Roland MKS-7

Postby Goa Travellers » Tue Jun 07, 2016 4:36 pm

Hi there,

I finally found out how to fit rackmounting brackets for my ivory Roland MKS-7. The rackmounting brackets aren't readily available. I ordered Keithley rack ears originally intended for oscilloscopes:

As the kit contains 2 different ears (left and right), I specified that I wanted both identical ("L" shape). Then, I took the rack ears to a machining shop to remove an extra coat (we can see from the above photo that the right angle bracket is in an unstable position), have them drilled with 3 holes to match those of my synth. The result is not bad and the color is near the synth's:

Clever idea!
Would you care to let us know what exact part you ordered?

Woh. I can't find it under a $100 price tag (retail price is $141)! That's way too high just for a piece of metal needing further retooling... :(
I'm pretty sure you can use a black spare one and paint it for less than half the price.
