best (affordable/free) loop point software??

Post by EleanorGrace » Fri Feb 26, 2021 12:36 pm

Hi everyone,

I am seeing if my old Sound Forge 10 (Sony light version) has actual "loop points".. ugh.. nm.. apparently they abandoned it (no registration server up anymore) which is a shame.. it was basically soundforge 4.5 simple but it did a good job still.

Apparently Audacity doesn't support this and I'd like to edit some samples because my Peavey SP supports loop points.

Zero-X does a good job but I can't seem to find a way to get a full version.. like please take my money.. but there seems to be a bit of a hunt to find a legit owner of the software these days..

So I thought I'd look to see if anyone has any knowledge of a good (ideally free / affordable) solution for making wavs that have loop points. Zero-X seemed like the best option I could find, but being stuck with a demo version that won't let me save my work is a bit of a downer..

my searching has often come up with programs for DJ's or Ableton but these are loop based composition programs, not wav editors.

Sound Forge was sold to Magix. There is an upgrade for it....

Wavosaur can read and edit loop points. Yeah...really wish Audacity would implement that...*sigh*
"Sure that's fine in practice, but what about in theory?"

That's the breaks with open source apps. If noone wants to take on a feature it doesn't get implemented. I'm honestly amazed that Audacity works as well as it does.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Well aware, being primarily a Linux guy myself these last couple of years. I find Audacity superb (within its somewhat limited scope); mostly I'm surprised in that support for these very sorts of niche functions is where FOSS stuff tends to really excel, and it does seem like a conspicuous oversight. Oh well...
