Sampling Favorites
Anyone got any favorite sampling? Sampling that you seem to always come back to? For instance...
For me, me favorite is piano loops. Sometimes i write them then play them into my sampler. Sometimes i take them out of old song sand loop them up. I always tend to like them really high. (Think Biggie Smalls "Who shot ya"). I just love the sound of a really tingy piano sound over an ill beat. Its a sound thats always attracted me.
This is kind of a broad topic...but feel free to share some of your favorite samples you've done. Think more notes and music rather than that scary-a*s vocal loop that tallowwaters made..gave me nightmares for weeks.

Random stuff, anywhere in a song..
cut up, stuttering stuff.
most of the time it doesn't work
but sometimes, something amazing comes up..
like the tail of a reverb, it's pretty cool.

umm...scary vocal scraps...
new one, voice dropped into bitrman's freq shift into ineko's freq shift (with real time knob twiddling) into boss rsd with shifty echo times. then of course, played down one octave or fifth.
another is takin snippets of my girlfriend's cutsie voice and pumping it through those naked girl anime vst effects (scattershot, other such names) and then chopping it up in wavosaur.
also, wavetable scans pitched down to a crawl. and, god help me, calliopes and bells.
and vocal pops with gated reverb and echo for my drum sounds.
oh h**l, this is too hard.
i do tend to prefer bizarre modulation and atmosphere to distorted grunge.

Brains can be used like a "stress ball," but only once.

i dont really have a fave
but i do have a soft spot for
horn loops, piano loops, breaks (well who doesnt) ive sample from nada surf, 2 skinnee j's and brandston to make one track it was just a funny idea i had while i was in NY earlier this year for my grandfathers passing (it kept my spirits up knowing i could combine those three for something quite interesting, plus it was done in soundtrack pro w/ an mpc).
umm thinking of doing something with a certain video game series mainly samples etc.
but i do listen to the ipod (mostly indie or metalcore or hardcore punk) for snipps of music. i do have the ultimate 2 step/skank break ever. imho of course!!!
oh yea i also do have a love affair for anything asian (considering im half)

I really dont have a fav....I generally only sample myself, if I do use samples of someone else its dialog from obsure records or movies.
but if I am going beat diggin, hook stealing, and bass grabbbing I am not about to tell anyone who's records I am lifting from.
