West End Girl Emulator II sound?
Hello all
Reposting this, as I got some responses was never able to read and my account got trashed too (seemed to be some weird MB crash last night)
So.... Have an Emu II+ and am dying to get the PSB "West End Girls" string sound disc.
You can hear it here, live by PSB:
Also, on Emu II in New Order kick-a*s "True Faith":
Almost positive this is a Emu bank (vs. Northstar, etc.)
Here is the disk list of sounds:
http://www.emulatorarchive.com/assets/P ... kettes.pdf
Perhaps its the stacked strings or marcatto strings (though not sure what marcatto means). Anybody have a disk to copy I can purchase from them? Wonder if Emu still sells them (as Northstar still does).
Finally....side note, very cool to hear/sea the PSB Bobby-O version of West End on Youtube also:
THANKS SO MUCH! Looks like a great forum, excited to get more involved here.

I bought some discs from Northstar a while back to test my EII.
Unfortunately my EII doesn't work
I got one of his discs patch # 460 called Symphony Strings.
I don't know how it sounds seeing that my EII's floppy drive is junk, but it might sound like the Pet Shop Boys strings patch.
Hopefully Scott (BlueMonster) will find me a floppy drive soon!!!

I have Emulator II #53 off the line... I call it Herbie

I wish Herbie would fix itself already

Hmm, what serial # is your EII? EII's up to serial #460 made between 1984-85 used a RS 232 interface which needs to be upgraded to a RS422 to work with certain applications. My EII still has the RS232. Check out the Emulator Archives Page. There's a lot of good info there on Emulators...

My Emu2+ is later serial number and has the last edition firm/software so that doesn't seem to be the issue. A few IC's inside are mysteriously not there though, but that doesn't effect the think from working any other way.
But anyway, would love to find any leads to that Emu2 sounds if anyone has it. THANKS!

Guys, I thought I'd butt in here....maybe you can help me out as I'm looking for the same sample only as either a .wav or .aiff. Not looking for EIII disks as I don't have one.
You can view my thread here: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21792. Great video of the BobbyO version, btw.....I've never seen Chris Dance like that.....I don't think he's moved like that since 1986.
