Sorry... I'm not responsible for the fantastic Mirage demos, should have stated that.
These are the skills of some other guy, I just found these demos the other day.

Brotha' Man PPG_HOSHII!,

I am saddened that I had the first one that came to Vegas. I used it for a long time, and got rid of it as the Emulator IV's had much better fidelity.

But Alas, you will be shocked to hear that the original Santana SG Distorted Guitar w/ ModWheel feedback has been converted to the Emulator's, then to the Oberheim DPX sample players, then back to the Emulator V's, and then to gigasampler, Gigastudio 160 2.54, then Gigastudio 3 Orchestra, then to GVI.

I still use that 8 bit sound for leads, and even reverse leads in my Lo-Fi Oberheim EDP.

I have VSL Overdrive, Six-String in Scope DSP Platform, and other libraries not worth mentioning.

I have tried since 1984 to replace that sound and it's a no go.

Dirty 8 bit samples are excellent. Halfway between analog and digital I guess. If you find a Mirage make sure it has that lead guitar.

The polyphonic synth comps are beautifully dirty as well, but I was stupid and only saved the Guitar.

This place is my new home, many sick young cats who at least have good ears, and taste for quality gear.

I grow weary of my sample / VSTi forums where everyone is into Orchestral stuff. I am into all of it.

But serenading women w/ French Horns ain't my way of winning the hearts and minds of fine trim. They need to be punished by SPL's and FAT BASTARDS buzzing their thighs. And of course,.........Dirty, nasty grit.

nathanscribe,

Thanks for posting your demos, I enjoyed listening to them.

john909kid,

cool youtube links, piano sounds a bit like the Korg m1.

scope4live,

The first one in Vegas eh? Thats cool. I bet people were impressed with what they could do when they first hit the market. When I get a chance, I'll check out that distorted guitar sample you mentioned.

I'm liking the way this thing sounds! It sounds so much more realistic than the terms people use to describe it.
