Akai S-950- first sampler? or ASR-10?

Discussions about anything related to samplers and sampling techniques.

The ASR-10 is really powerful. the only thing I don't like about it is there are no resonant filters (unless somebody made a hack for it--which is possible). The filters can be made steep, but just not resonant as far as I know.

However, the ASR-10 is true workstation. It's very capable if you read the manual and explore it's possibilities. I used to hang out with some guys who made really killer-good music and all they used was the ASR-10 and nothing else. They let me hang out and play on the machine and I read the manual quite a bit. It's nice.

If you do get one, just make sure it's in good shape and was well taken care of. And remember to make backup copies of the operating system diskette.
