i borrowed one i was considering purchasing from a music store about 6 years ago. it sounded f**k amazing, but not much memory. i spent 2 afternoons sampling an atari 2600 and had a ton of fun. downside was when i went back to the store and said how much i liked it the price went from $600 up to $800 so passed on it. really fun to mess with, more of a synth that has samples for oscillators than what i would think of as a sampler.

have you ever used an EIII? How would you say the sound compared if so.

Just curious because the EIII has the same CEM chips in it

no, i have never used an EII. is there a prophet 3000 you are considering, or are you simply trying to find the machine that makes the sound you hear in your head?

dunno i've just always been interested in it and I've never found too much info on it. There was a prophet 3k up on ebay a while ago but I didn't go for it :(

Hi,
That page is from 1998. However, they refer to a mailing list there. Try it and see if it´s still alive.
The Yahoo group named "Prophet 2000" is for all Sequential samplers despite it´s name: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/prophet2000/

Wine Valley are the authority on Sequential/SCI gear, they sometimes get P3000s in and sell the latest O/S and survival kits for the beasties.
