What songs can Prophet 2000 be heard on?
It´s quite easy to identify what songs the old Emualtors and Fairlight occur on, but can anyone really identify the Prophet 2000? any known factory sounds?

A lot of the string sounds on The Cure's album Disintegration were apparently done with a Prophet 2000 mixed with a Solina string ensemble
Quote from Roger O'Donnel: "The characteristic sound of the album is the orchestral string sample I got from Doctor Sounds in New York for my [Sequential] Prophet 2000," O'Donnell reports. "But we often mixed it with a classic instrument from the Cure's old days--a Solina String Ensemble, which is still in the Cure cave. Robert actually likes to try to get it into every song. I sampled that into the 2000 for our tour."
There were other string sound recipes on Disintegration as well. On "Prayers For Rain," for example, O'Donnell added a bit of Ensoniq Mirage cello/violin to the Prophet/Solina recipe..."

Ok, this may or may not be a long shot-I am convinced the EP/clavi-esque sounds in the theme music to Pee Wee's Big Adventure (e.g. towards the close of the intro) were done using the one or or several of the internal p2000/2002 sounds.
I know for a fact Danny Elfman had a couple p2002s (cos I own one of them!
), and when I watched that movie the other day, I was struck by how similar those parts sounded to the p2002 presets.. then again, they could have come from anything, and just happen to sound similar to the p2000!

The P2002 had separate outs (P2000 w. option) and also faster envelopes than other contemporary samplers. That made it appropriate as drum sampler and for short snappy sounds. So maybe it was widely used that way, which could explain why it´s difficult to identify it among other sounds.
But generellay I think that the lower bit rate and fewer functions, the easier it is to identify samplers.

Study this vid:
I get the impression that Andy plays the bass on his P2000 (and it´s stacking function and fast envelopes makes it suitable for it), Alan most of the melodies on his EII and Martin most of the brighter bells-like FM-sounds on his PPG and EII.

The Prophet 2002 'pizz bass' was part of some of the big MIDI stacks on John Carpenter's scores
to Big Trouble In Little China (1986) and Prince Of Darkness (1987).
For example, the massive bass sounds heard on cues like "h**l Breaks loose", The Devil Awakens" and "Darkness Falls" (all from POD) are more or less the same stacks of Prophet 10, PPG bass sample (played on EII), Oberheim 4-voice, Prophet 2002 and Prophet VS! No wonder it sounds so HUGE.
Another Prophet 2000 user was Mark Isham who used one on the superb synth-score to "The Hitcher" (1986).

Yeah, The Hitcher is good. Two years after The Hitcher, he did the music to "The Beast of War". Some sounds have the Prophet 2000 characteristics:
Great sounding score in any case. Must get that CD!, but it´s not even mentioned on Isham´s page at soundtrack.net: http://www.soundtrack.net/albums/?cid=I&lid=c&id=91

Back in 1986, Sequential's Prophet 2000 represented a genuine ... No-one had ever heard so much music coming out of a single instrument before. ... 16kHz (it didn't sound fantastic, as you can imagine, but then we were used to ...
