Re: sequential prophet 2000? never heard it
I've got a fair few factory disks, but truth be told they're not hugely interesting. The digital side of the P2000 is actually amazingly hi-fi for it's age and specs so most of the disks sound like what they claim to be.
Nowadays that accuracy tends to work against it - occasionally I'll try putting samples through mine to get some vintage mojo, only to find that what I get out is... what I put in. Most owners I know use it as an 8-voice polysynth rather than a sampler, and take advantage of the lovely analogue side of the architecture.

Not the ones I've got, at any rate. Presumably there would be some that did, but all mine are just fairly clean and nicley-recorded strings, harpsichords, drums etc. Typical 80's fare.

I have some diks on the way and can post some samples when I get them.
piRoN. It span the whole range from amazingly hi-fi to amazingly aliased, distorted and industrial. That´s so great with the P2000.

Unfortunately, I´ve still no disks for my P2k.
Anyway, concerning the sound quality of the P2, Klaus Schulze had something very pleasant to say about it:
"I use the Prophet (2000) for my main cello sound, which I sampled from a recording of Wolfgang Tiepold, a solo cellist from the Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra who used to work with me. Even though it´s a limited sampler, it´s still the nearest sound to a solo cello that I have heard up until know." (Keyboard Magazine aug. 94)

This is exactly what I use mine for. I like it because it has a brilliant arpeggiator and a fantastic stack facility with a delay parameter permitting you to make some really powerful lead sounds and bass. I view it as a sampler for playing back basic waveform and very short sampled type stuff into real analog filters.piRoN wrote: Most owners I know use it as an 8-voice polysynth rather than a sampler, and take advantage of the lovely analogue side of the architecture.
My only complaint about the P2K and P2K2 is that the user interface is MAD! I long since gave up trying to do multisamples on this thing - my EII, EIII and EMAX II do this kind of thing so much more easily.
I have never heard any of the factory disks and I really want to. Does anyone in the UK have a Prophet 2K sampler??
For those who want to hear the lovely analog filters in action (especially into crazy self resonance!) here is a demo of the 2K2 I posted on VSE ages ago - I actually prefer the filters on the 2K/2K2 to my EII's:

Re: sequential prophet 2000? never heard it
I found a Prophet 2000 in NYC (and a Casio FZ-1), together for $40.
They're still there, I couldn't pick 'em up because I had too much gear
Anybody wanna put 'em to a good home?

Yeah, a great arpeggiator as well.
Klaus Schulze continues:
"I also have a Sequential Prophet 2000 sampler on stage for a special reason: It could happen that the entire computer system fails. The I could at least play for about 20 minutes whilst it´s being repaired, because the Prophet has an arpeggiator which you can program like a Moog sequencer, so I could play chords on the JD800, a Minimoog solo on top, and some EMS effects, just like I was back in ´75! Hopefully it will never happen, but maybe some people would like it to happen because they preferred my music of those days. I did one encore at the Royal Festival Hall like this, just playing a cello on the Prophet and everything else by hand." (Keyboard Magazine aug. 1994).

Does anyone know how the SC 2000 fares against the E-MU Emax?
