KORG MICROMUTHAF****NSAMPLER! yeees!

Post by nadafarms » Fri Nov 13, 2009 3:22 am

Just ordered a korg microsampler, I admit it's like the first new digital thing I've ever bought...

but looks so damn cool in so many ways.

First off you don't have to reload all your work ever damn time you power down like stupid akai!

it runs on batteries!

it does multisampling and has effects

it's not that ugly...

it will allow me to throw away my crappy rack samplers

I got it for $450 shipped no tax, I seriously wanted to go down to robotspeak today or to GC but both those places would have been $500 plus CA sales tax screw that! I think I saved a $100 not buying locally :(

Who else is as excited as me?

lol,

. it really *is* that ugly IMO hahaha... It looks like the control panel was stolen off an old brown & beige washing machine

heh he yeah in one of the demos a guy mentions the washing machine knobs :)

BUT I'm honestly so stoked on what it does that i don't care about looks. I mean it's the only sampler you can just plop on top of your rig. Here are all the reasons I think it's cool:

A. doesn't need anything else connected other than the output since you can use batteries, it doubles as a portable audio recorder for some ghetto foley fx, recording jams etc.

B. you don't have to load sounds into it every time your gonna use it and if the power accidentally turns off at a gig and you're running an mpc... well ouch.

C. all that looping sync stuff is going to be way easier for most musicians to use than an mpc or computer. It might be a better solution for a lot of gigging artists because it's easy to use and if your playing live instruments with it, it will be easy to incorporate and just trigger your backing tracks

D. it's made to slice up beats

E. it's really got a pretty nice amount of storage space for what it is and since nobody has been really making hardware samplers these days it beats using any vintage samplers.

The down side is every "beatboxer" is going to own one of these...

nada, I totally agree! the Mircosampler is one mean a*s machine! I have one and LOVE it! Enjoy my man, you're gonna have a ton o' fun with it! Incidentally I just bought a Korg R3 Synth/Vocoder and was highly impressed with it as well and like you said you don't like digi, neither do I usually! But this R3, wow, it sold itself the minute I heard the first few bars I played on it. I only bring it up due to its exceptional quality. Check it out if you have time or interest, you might be pleasantly surprised! At any rate, enjoy the Microsampler man!!!

Just played my first gig with the microsampler last night! I sampled a bunch of vocal samples that I made with a tape echo and grabbed a bunch of samples off youtube hq videos. It is the easiest unit to make multisamples on ever! You don't have to name the samples which is dooooope. it was awesome I just used a ms-10 with the microsampler right above it running on batteries.

kick a*s little thing and it was the easiest setup to bring to a gig I love the microsampler sorry Stab!

Looks like a cool toy. But does it have any filters? Envelopes? LFOs? Or any synthesis capabilities for that matter? I didn't see any mention in the specs.

It's a sampler, not a synth. Think of it as an SP-404 in keyboard form, not a baby V-Synth.
