Those clips were pretty awesome, Trond. Reminded me a bit of Monolake, whom I love.
BTW: what are the effects on the Octatrack like? There was some talk about more effects being implemented in OS upgrades...?

I think the fx are pretty good. The filter really stood out as awesome coming from using the machinedrum, lots of options too. I like running single cycle waveforms from synths played back with the OT. Instant monosynth action. But about the fx... they said there will be more added in future updates so I'm pretty sure they will stand by their word on that. There was a thread over at the elektron user forums not too long ago about that, maybe mosey on over there and check it out.

That's the thread I was thinking of. Seemed a bit mixed but I find that it's all about the way the fx configed in the set up page yeilds best results, especiall the compressor.

So I've had mine for a little while, but exams and a handful of gigs that need practicing have promptly prevented me from using this much. After some troubleshooting on the EU-forums I made this demo video showing how to use the OT as a trantitional tool for live performances using thr crossfader and Scene locks. Basically the OT is sampling my Machinedrum and Monomachine, then fader is placed so that only the sample is heard while chaning patterns on the MD/MnM. for full explanation please read the thread on the EU forums:

This uses 1 out of the 8 tracks, meaning you can get pretty wild if you want to. This is just a basic demo, I'll explore how to make this more interesting with time

Yeah, I for one think there are tons of very awesome videos showcasing different sides of the OT on youtube:

live resampling a simple MD techno groove, a very good performance imo:

for the glitch/breakcore-guys and gals:

so most of the demos i've heard are very reminiscent of monolake. i'm a monolake fan but i do not want to sound like monolake. has anyone come across demos that sound way different? i'm looking for examples of twisted jazz, ambient, screwed up analog broken beat acid or klezmer for example. i'd like to be surprised. so far that has not happened. can someone show me something extreme?

I posted a pretty f'ed up thing two or three posts up, the "classic breakbeat" thing. or is that too plain too?

for weird-out stuff:

this guy also makes both experimental and dance-friendly stuff with his OT:

TrondC, thanks. Those are good. I'm fairly certain I'll be putting in an order for one of these in the next month or 2.

That classic breakbeats video (along with a couple of that guy's other vids) has made me a believer. Not that it matters too much, as this is way out of budget for me right now and probably will be for quite some time. But it is definitely my most wanted piece of gear right now. The crossfader seems like such a simple concept, but man, what a difference that must make. I can only look at my ESX in disgust right now. lol
