I actually started sampling with a Roland S-50 sampler long ago. Now I have 18 rack mount samplers that are EMU e6400's, E4's and Akai S5000, S6000's I do not miss the operating system of the S50 it was a b***h to map samples, easier if using a screen but still a b***h. It sampled at a much lower rate if the samples sound grainy they were!

Brilliant, I hadnt noticed this before.
Thanks very much D-Collector , that is generous of you.
I have the original S50 & W30 collection on floppy discs, but my Roland W30 is not working & I dont have any other sampler with a floppy disc drive that reads Roland S50 series samples, so this is a great gift, as I love some of those samples. Nice work! Happy new year etc

Sure! I just have to dig it out of my external HDD. Check in later today, I have to go to work now.

Yeah, I haven't gotten around to doing the 550 samples. But I feel they are not as exciting.

I'm not familiar with sampler formats but I have a machine that will import Akai S3000 data.

Is that something I could download the sampler converter and use it to convert this to?

Yes, Extreme Sample Converter will convert to Akai formats.

Hm, don´t they share the same library?

No, the S-550 library is more orchestral / acoustic in its nature, and while it does have some usable sounds I personally don't find it that interesting. I think the rave choir is in the S-50 library, can't remember which disk though.

Ok, but they can read eachother´s disks? it would surprise me if Roland made them incompatible?

They can read from each others library, but have to use the "convert" function on the utility/system disk.

I just found out the rave choir is not from the S-50 library, but rather from the original S-330 System Disk no.2, it contains orchestral sounds and one of them, "Ending 1", is the famous rave choir!

Thank you SynthMania.

I would love to get an audio sample of that!!

In your S-50 collection.. there is "Ending1" and "Ending"

I thought it was maybe "Ending"
but I guess it's not.
