I think he sold it to the MPC shop when his supply of SCSI card readers dried up...looks like he may have secured a new supply?? if you're around JD, drop in and tell us :)

**EDIT**
"I closed the business at the end of last year and sold the domains to MPCStuff.com"
- found that on another forum

Cool! Thanks for the heads up.

I snoozed on those CF Card drives last time and they were gone by the time I finally decided to order. But I've just now ordered one (and he has new ones that are hot-swappable) for my A-3000. :D

Hello, everyone, and thank you gmeredith for making the announcement! Yes, I am back with a new website and many of the same products I sold in the past, along with some new goodies. :D

I did close my previous website at the end of last year due to the inability to get parts. Luckily, my main vendor came through for me recently with the missing parts, so I decided to jump back in.

Please have a look at my website http://www.SCSICardReaders.com and contact me if I can help anyone with any SCSI needs! And thanks to everyone for their positive feedback - it's nice to know I was missed!

It's great to have you back, JD!

I bought 2 of those CF card readers from you last year - best thing I ever did for my E-Mu's.
By the way, I've had an idea about those readers. You say about them that they are not hot-swappable. But I figured out a way to "kind of" make them hot swappable. You simply put an on/off switch in the 5V power supply wire going to the unit. So if you need to get your samples and banks onto a second CF card but of course you have to power down the sampler first (and lose the samples loaded off the first card), now you simply switch off the CF card reader, not the sampler.

You then pull out the first card, put in the second card while leaving the sampler on (and so keeping its retained memory) then switch the CF card reader back on. In the case of E-Mu samplers, you then re-mount the drive in the disk utilities menu so that the sampler sees the drive and card again, and bingo! you can then save your sampler memory to the new card.

Cheers, graham

Graham:

Yes, I have experimented with that same procedure - in fact, I have a whole bunch of the CF-CARD drive bezels where I drilled a hole to mount a small switch (and I have a bunch of switches as well!). It does work pretty well for some samplers (such as your EMU) but I found that on too many samplers, it caused them to freeze up when you tried to make the switch. And many samplers do not offer an easy way to tell the sampler "hey, I switched CF cards, so refresh your memory of what is on the card". It was deteremined that overall, this solution was too unstable for me to offer it commercially. However, for anyone who wants to try it, I can provide CF-CARD drives with the switch mounted and the wiring in place.

Thank,
JD Wilson

And I see you've also reduced your card readers in price from $169 to $119!! Damn I want another one even if I don't have a sampler to put it in!

Hey, that's a good idea! Like I always say - you can't have too many SCSI card reader drives. :D
