707 and QX5 sequencer query

Post by princefan3 » Sat Nov 21, 2020 7:00 pm

Hi Guys.

I made a little bass pattern on the Yamaha QX5 using a DX100 keyboard..122 bpm...all good.

Then I wanted to use the Roland 707 as master and took midi out from the 707 into the in of the QX5.

Then set the midi to be received on the QX5.

The pattern starts all good and I can speed up and down the tempo..but what I noticed was that the bpm count
of the QX5 was always reading 2 bpm she lower than the 707s.

Which in turn makes the sequence run out from the beats am I doing anything wrong...? It's puzzling me.

Would apreceate any feedback.

Make sure the 707 is sending MIDI clock to it's MIDI out.

Make sure the QX5 has a sync setting that's set to "External/MIDI".

Otherwise, you can make the QX the master, and sync the 707 to it instead.
