Tom Oberheim SEM - glitching envelope?

Post by commodorejohn » Thu Apr 27, 2017 8:24 am

So I picked up an Oberheim SEM reissue (patch-panel edition.) I'm driving it from my Korg ARP Odyssey with the CV/gate outputs on the Odyssey plugged into the VCO1/ENV1 CV/gate inputs on the SEM. This mostly works fine, but it has one rather odd issue: every so often, the envelopes will jump immediately to full sustain and stay there until released. I'm not entirely sure what triggers it; there doesn't seem to be an obvious pattern.

Is my SEM faulty? Is the Kodyssey feeding it something on the gate signal it doesn't like? Is this just a known quantity with the SEM? I'm really not sure what to make of it.
