Casio CZ-1 – need of TLC

Post by teevee » Mon Jul 10, 2017 10:30 am

I bought myself a Casio CZ-1 today and it needs some TLC :) I will use this forum for the logging of the process!

Issues:
1. One of the keys is not responding as fast as the rest of the keys.

2. I can hear low-noise on the output and found a blog, about this issue mentioning that I can replace G2VN-237PL with NTE R40-11D2-5/6 -> Souce Link

3. I get scratch noise, when I move the chorus fader.

4. The Fader cap is missing on the chorus fader.

Extra things, which I want to do, when I open the device anyway:
1. Battery replacement
2. Firmware OS back (as I cannot see it anywhere else online)
3. Replace LCD backlight
4. Switch cleaning.

I will take it step-by-step:

Issue 1:
See the video here from 14:09 – 15:45, where the end-user takes off the keyboard-part and explain how it works.

I could imagine that something is “Interfering” with the contact between the key and the contact sensor.

Issue 2:
NTE R40-11D2-5/6 seems easy to find.

Example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NTE-R40-11D2-5- ... 1274008043

Question:
On the component itself is mentioned 110 VDC, will I need another version if my Casio CZ-1 is made for 220V? (I use it in Europe) < Maybe stupid question, but rather ask than blowing something :D

Got a CZ-1 - i think it needs a new screen, very dull. Have anyone done it? And my chorus is very faint, it is like when i engage it there is a drop in volume - even cranked up. Any one with similar behavior? Could it be standard behavior?
