AKAI s1000 - no screen

Hi There

I've just booted up my s1000, has been in storage for about 5 years. When I last used it it worked but the screen was on its last legs.

Now I have just a blue screen slightly illuminated, the menu lights work when I select through them and the floppy drive turns on and tries to load the data.

I can't remember if the s1000 needs the boot floppy to load, could this be the issue? I don't have the boot floppy anymore.
