Cleaning a synth from a smoker's studio

Post by Frayo » Tue May 07, 2019 1:42 am

Hello,
I just got a great deal on an Akai AX60 from a craigslist ad, only to find that not only does it sound weird (very distorted and wavy pitches), but it smells of cigarettes. I opened it up to find a lot of brown and black goo on all the components. Is there a way I can clean this off? I tried with a few small tools, but I don't want to hurt the components. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
