Some keys zone don't sound. ALESIS QS 6.2

Post by Hide24 » Wed Dec 25, 2019 3:12 pm

Hi everyone.
I own an ALESIS QS6.2 which some keys don't work.
It's very weird because is only some zones that don't work properly.
From C1-E2 works ok, and from E3 to B3 too.
Before I repaired many synth keys, but the ones that didn't make any sound were randomly.

I tried to clean the rubbers and contacts, and also I changed the Keyboard cables, but without success.
If I use an external midi keyboard, all the keys sounds with no problem.
What could be the cause?
Thank you very much.

It's probably an issue with the keyscanning matrix. If keys or buttons fail in groups of 8 then it's usually an electrical issue. When they fail "randomly" then it's usually dirty sensors.

Could be the keyscan ASIC, or more likely cold solder joints on the keybed header, trace damage, etc.
