ELKA OMB 5 Stuck in MIDI MODE

Hi folks!
Recently got my hands on an ELKA OMB 5. Sounds wonderful to my taste but it seems to be stuck in MIDI mode. I've translated the Italian manual which says to press MIDI button to exit MIDI mode but I've tried with no luck. Any chance anyone else has experience with this fun but temperamental synth?
