It's a synth sound or sample, but it has some characteristics of a distorted guitar timbre (slightly distorted, lots of harmonics).
Nothing to do with a piano, or with any particular type of controlling keyboard.

Not really, it doesn't have any samples that are in the ballpark, and doesn't have distortion effects.

Ya definitely not a D50. It's from a sampler, that's for sure. Same sound for the main riff here:
