Needed: JP-6 part S2W83SA

Post by Z » Wed Aug 08, 2007 12:57 am

One of my JP-6's has a bad osc 2 on voice 1. I bought a CEM 3340 from Technology Transplant years ago thinking that is what I needed. My tech says that the chip in the board is fine and has traced the problem to the S2W83AS. Does anyone know where to find this part or are there any other synths that used this part that I could buy a non-working unit to rob the part from. Any and all help is appreciated!

Well you have the last two letters mixed up. It's S2W83SA aka EHM-S226W83S. Try this: http://www.rangeraudio.com/stock10.htm

It looks to only be used in the Jupiter-6 and MKS-80.

Yeah, I emailed them (Ranger Audio) last week and never heard back. Guess they don't want to do business. I've give Roland a shot, but they have seem very reluctant to help with vintage gear. Most people I have talked to there don't even know what I'm talking about. For example: "What's DCB?"

I edited the subject. Does anyone know why my photo isn't showing up? I posted photos here before, but for some reason, my recent photos only show the URL.

Roland says the part is no longer being made. They did ge me a generic part number: EHM-S226W83S. I will do a search on my own, but if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

BTW: It's been over a week and I never heard back from Ranger Audio. Has anyone ever done business wth them? If so, do you have a phone number? I didn't see one on their website.

Ranger Audio is no longer in business. If they do, well... they don't many of my customers come from there. They no longer reply to emails.

Well, that explains why they didn't repsond. Guess I'll have to look for a broken JP-6 or MKS-80 for parts.

Well, I think that vintage planet may have that part. The bad news though, is that they require a minimum purchase of €20 so it may not be worth it to you once you add in the shipping.

.....i have some things that create and sculpt sound.

Thanks Klaxon. Their website says "NOT TODAY". I guess that means I need to get on a list. I'm sure I can use some part for my other synths, that's quite a list they've got there.

At least there's a small ray of hope!

I know an ex-Roland tech. I'll ask him if he doesn't have any contact for locating the hybrid amp S2W83SA.

I come back to you

I also need 4 of these sadly..
I've got a Jupiter-6 with 2x 2-voice board (really weird story behind it)
Anyway I bought it for parts but now I'm thinking to populate the 2-voice board to be a 4-voice and slowly gathering parts to make it happen.
The synth kind of works as a 4-voice but the voice allocation is all over the place.
I'd really like to get it working and I don't think it will be that hard since the control for the voice board is already there.

The only unobtainable part seems to be the EHM-S226W83S..
If anyone has any clue let me know.!
