Should my V-Synth XT come with a USB cable and PC Card?

I was dissapointed to see that when I opened my brand spanking new box with Roland plastered along the side, that I only found a V-Synth XT, CD, Manuals, and a few screws glaring within.

Why does Roland not ship with a USB cable and a PC Card adapter? These things are vital for the use of the V-Synth - At least the USB cable anyway?

Come on Roland. How much did you save here? $3.75???

Am I wrong. Should have I got these items?

I disagree, you don't need either of these to use the XT as much as you need a midi cable and controller keyboard. Should Roland inclue those too? Stop whinging.

Ahh come one.. We all have MIDI cables lying around.. And I hope a good percentage would have a controller keyboard.

I dont have spare USB cables? And If I did it may be the wrong connector.

It would have been nice to have at least a USB cable. I want to make use of the CD they supplied..!!!!

You're being ridiculous, if you don't have a usb cable then just buy one. It's a standard usb a -> b cable, the most common one there is.

I don't think *any* synth I've ever purchased have come with any cables, other than the power cord.

Not even the requisite audio cables. But then, how are they going to know how long a cable to provide, or if you need 1/4-inch, or something else on the other end, etc?

As for a PC card adapter, what is that needed for? An old laptop without USB? Any machine that old isn't going to be able to run the software anyway. And not everyone hooks up their synths to a computer.

Yes. No.

Unnecessary extras provide the following problem:

More expensive shipping due to higher weight (every little bit counts when you ship in volume), which in turn leads to higher prices for the buyer.

More non-feature-product parts that they are obligated to support, which leads to higher prices for the buyer.

More non-feature-product parts that they have to source from a third party, which means more time spent by employees of the company doing so (sourcing, receiving, packaging, etc.), which leads to higher prices for the buyer.

Etc, etc.
