JP-8000 performance question

Is it possible to save a "patch" with keyboard split, arpeggiator or motion control as a "performance"? It's clear that the Patch and Performance sections are separate...so can I only create new performances by editing old ones, using the "performance" patches? Thanks alot for any help!

Isn't there anything about this in the owner's manual?

I looked through the manual pretty thoroughly--it never mentions saving patches as performances or vice versa as far as I saw

The patch system inside the JP is confusing and I'm still figuring it out. But as far as I know a patch can't be saved as a performance unless that patch is part of the performance, I think. So yes, you're probably stuck just overwriting performances.

I find that annoying. But i don't use the split keyboard that much really because i usually have another polysynth on stage with me.
