This is either a HELP or BUYER'S Guide topic. I'll assume that you own the Kenton; so, I will throw this in HELP for now. If it turns into a "what should I buy" thread, I'll move it to BUYER'S GUIDE.

look here for the supported gear list. it's supporting the JX-8P, supposed to be no problem with the JX-10. but if there's not pre-made template for it, you must at least made it yourself with the free editor.

So it responds to CC# messages? I was always under the impression that it didn't since the JX-8P doesn't..

and since the Sysex communication is dodgy, how does the PG-800 work with it? that only transmits Sysex strings right? or does it ONLY respond to sysex strings and not CC# messages or full dumps?

its just not has good as the JX-8P when taking programmed patch from the PG-800 straight to a sequencer without putting in the JX's RAM or doing full dumps....

Hi wiss,
So it will accept cc# messages. But are you saying it has trouble digesting cc# messages on the fly? Say, I program the Kenton for filter cutoff.
The JX-10 would have trouble with a filter sweep in a live scenario?
Thanks again for your help!

The JX-10 does not respond to Midi CC#'s. Well it does...but that is for stuff like the mod wheel, volume, aftertouch...etc. The programers who designed the firmware for the JX-10 really screwed up the midi stuff. It cannot be programmed via SysEx strings on the fly either. It can however receive and send SysEx dumps of the patches. It can only be programmed by the the PG-800

The JX-8P doesn't respond to MIDI CC#'s either...Well it does, but just the stuff the JX-10 does. It does however respond to SysEx strings on the fly. The same goes with the MKS-70. For some reason Roland screwed up the JX-10 in this aspect.

You can however fix what Roland messed up if you have access to an EPROM prgammer...or a friend that does. A guy reverse engineered the firmware and rewrote it so it would respond to SysEx strings just like the JX-8P and MKS-70. You can read about it here http://www.colinfraser.com/jx10/jx.htm
Stuff I own:
X Station
ESQ-1
JX-8P
Poly 800
MaxiKorg 800DV
Elka Rhapsody 610
