new Jupiter 4 with one problem

Post by Umbe78 » Tue Jul 01, 2008 8:41 am

Hi,
saturday I sold my SH2 to buy a Jupiter 4 with one defect .. I knew it, I tried it and I bought it besides..

All the sliders and knobs work, also the memory function and the bender, BUT there's always one sound even if I don't play the keyboard ... I thought ...

A) the release and sustain of VCA are blocked at the max or the previous owner has saved patches in this way ( :? ) , but also on the presets there's the same problem ...

B) the keyboard is in some way broken or dirty and one key is always pushed

C) the Hold key is blocked (but I pushed it without playing and the volume of sound doubles)

I think the solution is B ... I need some advices ... and if some guys know how much I'll spend to repair it

If it is B then it should not be too big a problem. The keyboard mechenism on the Jupiter-4 is simple and if you open up the top, its right there in front of you. Open her up and se if there is a missing spring or somthing. Oh yeah, to open up the Jupiter-4 just remove the 4 screws on the front pannel and the whole thing hinges open.

What kind of sound do you hear? May sounds silly to ask but there are a million of things described as "sound"... and there are more than 1 thing that can produce that sound.

Ooppss, seems like I misread your initial post.

Seems like there's something wrong with the key contact. Maybe there's a bent contact leaf making continuous contact or a bad diode in the keyboard matrix(rarer).

I'd check the keyboard contacts.

Hope that helps
