so
when i switch on my beloved RY30 it flashes this message

! CHANGE BATTERY !

has anyone done this before ?
im weary to open it up without some advice .

any advice welcome .

It takes a standard CR2032 coin type lithium battery (available everywhere). As far as I remember, it is not mounted in a battery holder (ut would be a great idea to had it). The battery & holder are available everywhere (even at Radio Shack).

Straightforward procedure: you only have to desolder 3 solder joints.To resolder, use 60/40 rosin core solder (nothing else). Place the battery like this: the + (engraved on it) facing you so that the negative side is facing the PCB.

BEFORE DOING SO, YOU MUST DO A BACK UP BECAUSE YOU MIGHT LOSE ALL YOUR DATA. THE SRAM MEMORY CAN ONLY BE WITOUT A BATTERY FOR AS LONG AS 5 MINUTES BEFORE ERASING ITSELF.

Please refer to your manual for the procedure or go Yamaha's website to download a free copy.

It shouldn't be difficult at all. But don't forget to save your data before doing anything (or before the battery dies).
