Alesis QS7 help!

Post by irregularpearl0808 » Mon Dec 15, 2008 8:57 am

I recently bought an Alesis QS7 and I love it but...
I have been puzzled over this for months. I have read the users manual more times than I can count. I know that it has a split keyboard, but I can't figure out how to use it. Does anyone know how to use split keyboard, so I can play one sound on the left and another on the right at the same time?
Thanks.

two different ways to split:

one: in normal voice mode, each of the 4 sounds has a "range" setting.

two: when in MIX mode, you can assign a defferent patch to each of the 16 channels....each with its own range.

i have a manual for a Quadrasynth+piano, and for a QS8 which are close enough that i can get you within a page or two if you still need help

easiest way i can tell you via text:
press MIX mode
select a MIX that has a split (most of the factory MIXes are two part)
use the PAGE < and > keys to get to chan 1
use the o-9 and 00-120 buttons to select a sounf for that part of the split
use the PAGE < and > buttons to get to chan 2
use the 0-9 and 00-120 buttons to select the sound for the upper part of the split.
SAVE your new MIX

basics are on page 39-43 of the manual

remember: the channels you want to hear must be ENABLED and KEYBOARD ON (both) to sound and VOLUME not set to "0"

Alright, I've figured out how to assign sounds to channels. I am just having trouble learning how to save it and play it back (all channels together). Channel 1 and 2 are set to their sounds.
I guess my questions would be, How and where do I save it?
And, how do I play my mix or the channels together in split keyboard form?
Thanks so much for your help! I don't like this manual.

let's see. you have chan 1 and 2 set for the sounds you want in the split, right?
enter MIX EDIT mode.
select the chan for the left hand part.
display should say "lower limit"
press and HOLD button 110
play the lowest note on the keyboard, let up button 110
press the "page >" button
you are now onb "high limit"
press and HOLD button 110
play the HIGHEST key on the LEFTHAND part of the split.

go to the channel that you are using for the RIGHT hand side of the split
do the same EXCEPT:
lower limit is the lowert key in the right hand side of split
upper limit is the highest key on the keyboard

name and save you new split
this info is on page #45
