dx11 battery type?

Post by synapsecollapse » Fri Jan 30, 2009 11:26 am

just scored a dx11 and its got the "Cng RAM Battery" error where all the int banks are garbage but the preset "single" banks work fine. im trying to figure out what battery to replace it with and google searches didn't find what i was looking for. so is it the CR2025 or CR2035 batteries from the DX7 or something else?

thanks!!

daniel.

The best bet is to open it up and look, but most synths from that era (including the DX7) used CR2032 batteries.

Take a pic of the boards and post 'em up.

The battery is usually the size/shape of a quarter, if it's a CR2xxx type battery. Here's a pic of the battery in an Andromeda, just to give you an idea of what to look for:

Ahh... the boards are upside down (components are on the other side), so you'll have to remove the board to spot the battery. It's probably on the large board in your "right side" pic.

taking one of my old synths apart to perform surgery is always one of those things where i dread doing it, but once it's open i'm having fun. glad to hear you found the bugger.

Now have fun finding the replacement performance patches. I looked for a year until I finally found them. I don't remember where I got them. The singles are everywhere, but the factory performance patches are a mystery. If you have trouble, PM me and I will see if I can dig them up from my archives for you.
