Yeah, the soldiering is fairly simple. Get a soldier sucker too to zap away the molten soldier. I left the small soldiered wires as it was enough to turn the board over.
Use pinchers to squeeze the plastic board supports to release the circuit board.
Have fun!

My DX7 has a blown capacitor!
I can't find the direct replacement (too old?) but found this one:
PME271M522MR30 - Safety Capacitor, 0.022 µF, X2, PME271M Series, 275 V, Paper (MP)
http://uk.farnell.com/kemet/pme271m522m ... dp/2495778
Can anyone let me know if it is suitable?
Thanks.

Hi there,

I know this is an old thread but had exactly the same problem with my DX7. I opened the lid and could see smoke coming out of the same capacitor marked C10 on the power board. I'm wondering did you have any luck with the parts listed above. Seems like it should be fairly straight forward to replace?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

This worked for me:

Disconnect and remove small board, de-solder burnt-out capacitor, solder in replacement, replace/reconnect board
