help-CASIO HT-3000- not powering on

Post by maxwel pisspotcobble » Thu Dec 10, 2009 6:41 pm

Hi
I picked up a CASIO HT-3000 for free.
But it doesnt turn on. The previous owner said it was working fine up until recently.
And now doesnt turn on.

I tried the original power adaptor, as well as two other adaptors of the correct voltage,
but it still does not turn on.

Any help/advice on what to do? how to fix it? what is casuing it not to work?

Thank you/cheers!

Could be a lot of things: bad capacitor(s), bad bridge/diode(s), bad solder of the power jack, etc. It would be long to explain how to test everything. Maybe someone with more time than I can write a tutorial for you to fix up your power supply board.

I'm assuming you mean HT-3000 not 300. Have you tried powering it on with batteries?

two things come to mind.
1. the jack where the power adaptor plugs in has been broken in a fall (or someone tripped over the cord)
2. the PO tried the wrong power adaptor and blew some kind of protection componet inside the synth.

yes its the HT-3000. my mistake :)
yeah I tried using the batteries, but they didnt make it work either.

I've unscrewed the back, and am trying to see what might be faulty, but I have no idea what to look at.
whats the most likey component that I can hopefully replace, that is causing it not to power on?

"protection componet" perhaps? what does this look like?
and the 'jack' terminal socket thing which the plug goes into.

maybe something else?

i'll continue to try to unmantle all the PCBS etc
