audio transformers

Post by nathanscribe » Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:30 pm

Maybe this is a long shot, but does anybody know of a book/website that explains in clear, practically useful terms how audio transformer input/output stages function and can be implemented?

I have read page upon page of technical documentation and forum posts and feel like my head is about to explode because while I thought I almost had it cracked, it has ceased to make sense. I'm at that stage of confusion where either I'm going to wake at 2AM and yell "Eureka!" or I'm going to give up altogether and never look at a transformer again in my entire life.

I am not scared of, but do not want to get embroiled in, vast swathes of maths. Nor do I want the kind of approach that says "just do this, it works" and only gives me one poxy circuit example for some kind of model railway setup or something, and then fails to say anything about the why and how.

I am of the opinion that a good book is worth spending money on, so if anybody knows one, recommend away.

I've got an eBook somewhere on a CD-R. Let me have a look as soon as I can.
