Roland JD800 key issue

Post by Electroluver » Tue Jun 08, 2010 2:04 am

Well, I have a very nice Roland JD800, but many of the keys were not working. I've had some success at repairs and opened it, which is a labourous task. Inside, the key felt was fine, but glue had melted around the contract strips, probably causing contact failure.
I called Roland and they say it will cost about $110 for the strip and I can bring it in. Thankfully, I have a Roland dealer about 30 min away with parts. What does this entail, could I lay the strip myself?

Sorry to say, your best choice of action is to have them replace the keys and contacts both.
This is one of the sucky-est problems in the vintage synth life.

Well, the keys still look really good. I hope the contact strips do the job.

I`ve given the JD800 to the Roland repair team. It`s costing more than I hoped, but at least it will be fixed properly.

Good news! :D
Roland informs me that they`re going to replace the entire keyboard assembly free of charge.
I just pay for labour and shipping ($120) :dancer:
