Crazy Idea: Wood sides for MS2000R

Post by Silverfish » Fri Feb 04, 2011 10:02 am

Hey team-

I've recently picked up a Korg MS2000R and I love it. However, I have no intentions of rack mounting it, and the rack ears are less than aesthetically pleasing to me. I'm considering making some wood side panels for it, to make it more of a desktop module.

Anybody tried this before? With a different rack mount unit?

I looked at some of the Vermona rack mount units, and they seem to convert from rack to desktop module quite nicely. I like how the rack ears go inside the wood panels. How do they fasten? Are they hollow on the inside? I can't find photos of the inner side of the wood panels.

Thanks for your help!

should be pretty easy and would look great.
When i had one I screwed just a couple of scrap pieces of mdf to the rack rails so that it could stand up on its own, unracked.
I'm actually in the process of wood-cheeking a few of my things.
Post pics when you're done!

got any pics? I am planning this now and would love to see how you styled yours. I haven't decided what color wood yet, as I have the original ms2k blue. I think a nice blonde would accent the blue...
